Emery County Historic Preservation Commission is part of the Emery County Government, however each commission member is Utah State appointed/approved. The ECHPC falls under
the direction of Utah Historic Preservation Office. Utah
is committed to preserving our heritage as far as possible and encourages each
county to create an Historic Preservation Commission. In order to tap into
grant funds for preservation of history, a county must form an Historic Preservation Commission and follow the guidelines of organization and bi-laws.
Then at least five members of the commission who have some involvement with
historic preservation become the commission itself. Each resume must be
submitted to, and approved by the state before final authorization is received.
County Historical Preservation Commissions are to keep an inventory of sites and structures that have historic significance for the county and decide on what projects and areas they will focus.
Members of Emery County Historic Commission include:
Ray Petersen--President
Laurie Pitchforth--County Commissioner
Edward Geary
Dottie Grimes
Lamar Guymon
Bernice Payne
Evelyn Huntsman
Jan Petersen
Vernell Rowley
